Community Outreach Program

WTLC is an organization committed to seeking solutions to end domestic violence.  WTLC’s Family Outreach Program provides the following services to all victims of family violence and their children.

  • Legal Advocacy- for all domestic violence related issues such as divorce, legal separation, child support, custody, visitation & restraining orders.

  • Crisis intervention- Orientation to all victims of domestic violence going through the criminal justice process, emergency assistance & referral services
  • PEP Classes-Personal Empowerment program classes often suggested by the court to all victims of domestic violence.
  • Emergency Shelter Placement- Assistance in finding and placing victims of domestic violence and their children in emergency shelter.
  • Legal Clinic- Is held every first Wednesday of the month you may sign up for a free consultation with a licensed attorney.
  • Immigration services- Free immigration services to all victims of domestic violence.  This service is by appointment only. Please call to schedule your appointment.
  • Volunteer/Interns-Internship Opportunities may include:

Observe and train to facilitate support groups for the Residential & Outreach Programs. Assist Children's Program Supervisor and Child Advocates in providing adequate care & education for children in our residential programs. Help and or organize group activities, counseling, and observation of school-age children in the after-school program. Monitor residents to ensure that adequate supervision of children and the cleanliness and safety of the facility are maintained per “Policies and Procedures”. Report suspected child abuse. Learn documentation skills. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned throughout the agency. Assist with hotline calls.  Hours are flexible, as we are an agency that provides 24-hour services.

Volunteers & interns may also choose to join our law enforcement emergency response team.  The Emergency Response Team works with the Anaheim, Santa Ana and Fullerton Police Departments in responding to domestic violence calls.  During their shift advocates assist victims of family violence by providing emergency services including, but not limited to: crisis intervention, resource and referral information, general advocacy, and/or shelter placement. These shifts or Ride-a-long hours will usually take place during the evening hours. 

Requirements: A two-semester commitment is preferred for interns or a 6- month commitment. The internship program is geared for Human Services Undergraduates and Counseling Graduates. During the internship commitment one must complete the 40-hour Domestic violence certification training as mandated by the State of California.  This training is offered 2 times per year. A current TB test is also required along with a live/scan or criminal background check prior to starting the internship.
