Residential Children's Program

- Our children’s program is designed to provide a safe and nurturing environment where child and parent can heal, learn and grow.
- The “Little House” staff is trained in child development, early childhood education, curriculum planning and issues pertaining to domestic violence and child abuse.
- Our program for the younger children is called “Froggies”. We offer an infant/toddler program that promotes social skill development, motor skill development, and proper nutrition.
- We also offer a pre-school to pre-kindergarten curriculum promoting reading readiness. Part of our pre-school program involves physical education.
- The children participate in outdoor group activities to promote good health, positive self-image and strong physical development as well as teamwork.
- We also provide an after school program for our school aged children to 18 years of age. We call this our “ Super Stars” group.
- This program is designed to help address self-esteem issues, enhance communication, provide homework assistance, art therapy, substance abuse prevention, and Domestic Violence prevention education.
- The “Super Stars” Program is also a place where older children can come together in a supervised environment and express themselves on topics that interest them as a group.
- The mothers are provided with a 6-week interactive parenting class, which helps to guide them through the healing process as a family. The material covered in the class is designed to promote open communication between parent and child, good discipline techniques, self-esteem, teen dating violence education, education on the effects of D.V. on the family as a whole, nutrition and time management.
- Our summer program curriculum contains self-esteem building projects, field trips, children’s educational camps, and a reading club.
- Each week different mothers get the opportunity to come and help out at “Little House”. Often referred to as the “Froggie Moms”, the women are responsible for helping with any and all tasks necessary to help our program staff throughout the day. This also allows the Mother’s more interactive time with children to implement what they are learning in their parenting classes under the supervision of Children’s Program staff.
- We also provide each new family who enters our facility with new, age appropriate toys and school supplies to help welcome them to WTLC.
