This rejuvenation of their living space helps to promote a sense of self worth and value for the families that have survived horrors within the walls of their previous homes. Having a fresh, clean, tranquil environment to rest their heads is an integral part of the healing process.

A Positive Impact of Operation Facelift: A Letter from Kelly

Hello, my name is Kelley. To say that WTLC helped me at the hardest point in my life would be an understatement. Living in a domestic violence household breaks you down in so many ways. The physical part has healed. The emotional and mental, the most difficult part, is a work in progress. But, to my joy, I found a safe haven and it would be by way of Room 25. The staff was warm, kind, reassuring and they provided me with comfort. They walked me down the hall and opened the door to a warm, clean, beautiful place. At first, I was a bit nervous from it's beauty, but after settling in it brought the sense of comfort like having a secure, caring pair of arms wrapping themselves around me. When I would sit and take in the room in the first few days ... the new furniture, fresh clean linens, warm paint color ... I would find myself smiling. I was getting a sense of worth back a bit. That was a feeling I felt that I had lost. When my day was overwhelming, it was a retreat that comforted me. I know that it may be difficult to think that a room could have such an impact; but the power of worth is so important and walking into that beautiful space started my journey back to seeing myself as being worthy of something. You know they say that God works in many ways ... he brought me to WTLC ... and now a major part of my smile is Room 25, my safe haven.
